A US drone has crashed in Afghanistan

A US drone has crashed in Afghanistan’s Nangahar province, with Taliban militant group claiming responsibility for the incident, Press TV reports.
Afghan officials said the incident took place on Friday in the Chaparhar District of the province.
US forces blamed the crash on technical failure. However, Taliban militants claimed that their fighters had downed the drone.
On November 14, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed the crash of another US drone in Afghanistan’s northeastern province of Badakhshan.
The United States regularly uses drones for attacks and spying missions in Afghanistan, as well as in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal belt near the Afghan border, among other places.
Washington claims that its drone airstrikes target militants, but local sources say civilians have been the main victims of the attacks.
The United Nations says the US assassination drone attacks are “targeted killings” that flout international law.
