610-kg man airlifted from Jazan to Riyadh for surgery
Khalid Mohsen Shaeri, a 20-year-old man in the southern borden city of
Jazan, who is suffering from extreme obesity and could hardly move. In
an elaborate operation that involved medical specialists, Civil Defense
and military personnel, the 610-kilogram giant had to be extracted with
the use of a forklift from his unit on the second floor of an
apartment building, after which he was transported to Riyadh by a
special plane. Shaeri may undergo surgery at the King Fahd Medical City
(KFMC) to remove the flab from his stomach, a procedure that the
hospital's specialists successfully did just days ago with a
250-kilogram 27-year-old man.
